  A Place in the Park

The Adirondack Park is the largest park in the US with six million acres of constitutionally protected land. It is a combination of wilderness and hamlets providing endless possibilities for outdoor enthusiasts. This four-season wonderland offers hiking, fishing, golf, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, nature photography and star glazing for dream seekers of all ages.
The central location of the Gore Mountain Region allows day-trips of fewer than 2 hours to Saratoga, Albany, Burlington, Lake Placid, Old Forge, Glens Falls and Lake George. For an urban weekend getaway, Montreal is only 2.5 hours and New York City is 4.
Although most move to the area for the winter activities, all soon find the warm months to be equally as enticing. Cool nights and warm summer days make the mountains an ideal vacation area. In the morning while reading or sipping coffee, it’s common to spot a flock of wild turkey or a family of deer walking by. Take a walk to hear woodpeckers or be buzzed by humming birds. Nature is at the front steps; so don’t forget to close the door so the deer don’t walk in.

Skiing
Great terrain can’t be manufactured and that’s what Gore Mountain offers. Gore’s terrain is about to get much better with the expansion of Burnt Ridge and the historic Ski Bowl areas. Gore’s vertical drop will jump from 2100’ to 2400’ by connecting the existing slopes to the Ski Bowl Park and re-establishing historic trails. With 14 new slopes on the horizon, Gore Mountain will leap over other east coast ski areas moving into top 10 in vertical drop.
The writing is on the wall, NY’s best kept secret is about to make a giant leap and come out of hiding. Gore has gained momentum in the last several years by steadily upgrading facilities. First by tapping into the mighty Hudson, Gore established an unlimited supply of water for snowmaking. Next with a new gondola, Northwood’s Lodge, additional trails and connecting trails, tubing park, night skiing, new grooming machines and more snowmaking guns, the resort is quietly pulling ahead.
The real advantage is Gore’s terrain. There are trails for all level of skiers including the expert. Eventually, we all improve and need a challenge. Gore has challenge you won’t find in Southern Vermont or the Catskill area. As if that wasn’t enough, Gore’s sister mountain, Whiteface, the only Olympic mountain on the East Coast, shares a season-pass and multi-day ticket– a great two-for-one deal.
River’s Edge is only 2 miles from the base lodge and 1/2 mile from the soon to be Ski Bowl connection lift.

X-country, Snowshoeing and Snowmobiling • Not everyone is an alpine ski enthusiast. Many come for the extensive snowmobiling trails that crisscross

the Adirondacks for miles or to snowshoe and x-country ski. Garnet Hill, one of the premiere x-country centers in the Adirondacks, is less than 5 miles from River’s Edge. It has a 2000 ft. elevation and 55 miles of groomed trails.

Hudson River
The Hudson River starts in the Northern Adirondacks and travels just behind the town of North Creek. The town sits on one bank of the river and Rivers Edge Townhomes are directly across on the other. Here the river flows clean and cold. In the warm months, people enjoy white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking and fly-fishing. The beauty of the Hudson is a part of everyday life at River’s Edge.

North Creek
the historic town of North Creek is nestled along the banks of the Hudson River. At one end of the town is the restored Upper Hudson River Rail Road and museum. In 1901, Teddy Roosevelt was rushed to the depot off Mt Marcy when he learned of President McKinley’s death. The town has kept its historic character and is undergoing a renaissance of revitalization.

Waterways
The Adirondacks is home to thousands of lakes, ponds, uncounted miles of rivers and streams that are enjoyed by anglers, hikers and campers. Lake George, Lake Champlain, Long Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake and of course the Hudson River are some of the best know water ways in the area.
