Building Materials

Building from Nature
We chose wood and stone to blend with the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Douglas fir logs, 80-140 years old, with river stone found locally, are examples of natural materials found in the Adirondacks.

  • Large windows in the Great Room and Master Bedroom give exquisite views of the River and Ski Bowl Mountain
  • Large Decks with log Railings
  • Logs: 14-16 inch mean diameter, Douglas Fur Logs, handcrafted and scribe fit, full wall length

Radiant Floor Heat
Hot water circulated thru light weight concrete provides heat to the room from below the finished floor surface. The concrete sub floor acts like a large radiator or heat sink eliminating temperature changes, fan motor noise, and providing an evenly distributed heat throughout the room. A heat gradient is formed with the warmest zone down low where it is most beneficial. There is no fan blown air to circulate dust and aggravate allergies. A smarter heating design translates to lower energy bills.
